You can use Assembly Groups in Job Spec to pre-select the items from the Assembly Groups list. This saves steps in the takeoff process when you know the sizes and/or type of material that is required for a job. When you pre-select the items, this window will show those items. When items are not pre-selected, this window will display for you to make your choices.
When you take off items and assemblies, you specify the quantity of each item you need. Many items have formulas associated with them so that the Quantity dialog box will ask for the length of the conduit or number of boxes before it completes the calculations to take off the item or assembly. You can preset values for these formula variables. The advantage is that when you take off items that use those variables in their formula calculation, the values that are preset are automatically populated and not listed in the Quantity dialog box for entry. This is another time-saving feature that makes your takeoff more efficient.
