In Tip 42 we discussed the benefits of using the Automatic Labor Factoring feature in IntelliBid. One thing to be aware of is, that the Auto factor must be reselected each time you change phases, and that selection must be made before you begin any takeoff in that phase. Setting the labor factor to Auto after material has been taken off will not affect anything.
Fortunately, there is a much easier way of handling this with Job Settings found in the Job Spec feature. On the Navigation Bar located on the left of your screen, go to Phase Tree/Job Spec and click on the Settings tab. Use the drop down arrow for Lab-Fact and select AUTO and then click Apply To Selected Phases and click OK. Now the labor factor will be set to Auto and affect all your Takeoff for the entire job or the phases that you selected.
In the future, when you register a new job, the Labor Factor will default back to 1.00. Should you want Auto to be a permanent setting for all future jobs, repeat the steps above while in any job, but this time before you click the Apply to Selected Phases button, check the box that reads Update All New Jobs. This will update the default setting to Auto, although you can still change it back to 1.00 at any time in any job. This is done by setting the Labor Factor back to 1.00 and placing a Check in the Update All News Jobs box.
This tip is covered in the Advanced Takeoff seminar.
