The IntelliBid Phase Tree can be edited to conform to each job. Using the Smart Fill feature makes this job quicker and easier, especially for large jobs with complex phase structures. The basic function of Smart Fill is to allow you to add or modify phases, and have those changes apply automatically throughout the Phase Tree. For example, if every Phase needs a “Building A” Subphase, you don’t have to manually add that Subphase to each and every Phase. Add it to one Phase and Smart Fill will do the rest.
There are several options that can fine-tune this process so that Smart Fill only applies to specific portions of the Phase Tree. Open the Phase Tree from the Takeoff screen. On the right, you will find a Smart Fill checkbox. Check this box to enable the Smart Fill feature; this also activates the Preferences button to the right of the checkbox. Click this button to open the Smart Fill Preferences dialog box.
In the Preferences dialog box, there are two options: Selected Phase Only and All Phases. Selecting All Phases also activates a checkbox labeled Smart Fill ALL Subphases and Levels. This provides a total of Three Smart Fill modes, which are explained below:
1. Selected Phase Only: When this option is checked, only one Phase branch is affected by Smart Fill. If you are adding Subphases and Levels to the Fixture/Branch Phase, the Feeders Phase is not affected. Adding a Level 1 (1st Floor) to a Subphase under Fixture/Branch will add that Level 1 (1st Floor) to ALL Subphases under Fixture/Branch only. Adding a Level 2 (Common Hallway) will add that Level 2 to ALL Level 1’s (1st Floor) under Fixture/Branch only.
2. All Phases: This option applies Smart Fill to the entire Phase Tree. The Smart Fill ALL Subphases and Levels checkbox gives you the option of applying new Levels only to Subphases and Levels with similar names:
3. Checked: If the Smart Fill ALL Subphases and Levels box is checked, Smart Fill applies to the entire Phase Tree. If you add a Level 1 to a Subphase, it will be added to ALL Subphases. If you add a Level 2 (Common hallway), it will be added to ALL Level 1’s (1st Floor) .
3a. Unchecked: If the box is unchecked, Smart Fill will apply only to Subphases or Levels with the same name. If you add a Level 1 (1st Floor) under a Subphase called “Building A”, it will be added to ALL Subphases named “Building A,” but not to any other Subphases. If you add a Level 2 (Common hallway) under the Subphase “Building A” and the Level 1 (1st Floor), the Level 2 will be added to all Level 1’s (1st Floor) under “Building A” Subphases. Be aware that both the Subphase and Level 1 names are considered when Smart Filling Level 2’s.
