With the rapid change in the price of petroleum products, electrical contractors often see considerable fluctuations in the cost of many items they use on a regular basis. Material such as wire, PVC, and pipe have all seen their prices rise and fall for many months, often with a dramatic effect on the bids issued (or to be issued) by the electrical contractor.
ConEst IntelliBid provides a means of keeping a close eye on these items with frequent price fluctuations, right up to the moment when the bid is to be issued. Each item in the Audit Trail has a checkbox labeled Prompt. To locate the Prompt check box during the Take Off process, scroll the Audit Trail to the right. Typically, the Prompt check box is
Not Checked (NO) by placing a Check (YES) in the box, you are indicating that you want to be reminded of this item and its current price on the Incomplete Items List before you go to final bid.
Note: You may notice that some Prompt boxes are already checked. This has been done in the Main Database. ConEst has gone ahead and checked these boxes that we feel might need a price check.
Now, every time you go to the Bid Recap screen, IntelliBid displays a list of all items whose Prompt box is checked. This is your reminder to confirm the pricing on these items. If costs have changed since the items were added to the estimate, you can change their prices on the fly on that line item.
Note: Please keep in mind that, for every item you change on this screen, the value will be reflected on the TakeOff screen wherever the item has been used. Also, you may adjust the labor unit for the item as well, however, you should use caution when changing the labor unit.
For one last check before you freeze your bid, you can click Incomplete Items from the icon on the tool bar.
