For a more comprehensive comparative pricing analysis, IntelliBid uses its Best Buy feature to automatically select the lowest price from each of the vendors stored in your database, for each item of your bill of material. The results provide an absolute lowest material cost for your bid. For even more convenience, running the Best Buy report will separate the bill of material, by each of your vendors, listing just the material that particular vendor is lowest on as compared to your other vendors.

In the following example, three vendors will be used. Their project totals have been updated using NetPricer with the following results:

Vendor 1 = $36,895.27
Vendor 2 = $53,853.80
Vendor 3 = $46,130.98

To start, run the Best Buy comparison from the Takeoff screen, or the Summary screen if you are using version 7.2.12 or higher. Open the Vendor dropdown list at the top right of the screen and then choose the Best Buy at the bottom of the list as shown in figure 1. The select OK to the Recalc Preferences window that will then open verifying the Best Buy comparison will proceed.

Once the comparison is complete, the prices that are listed for each item of your bill of material are the lowest prices from each of your vendors in your database. The material job totals displayed provide you the absolute best prices as a combination of all your vendors.

In the example being used with the three vendors the results are now as follows:

Vendor 1 = $36,895.27
Vendor 2 = $53,853.80
Vendor 3 = $46,130.98
Best Buy = $31,885.83

From the Summary tab you can now run the Best Buy report by selecting the Print dropdown list and selecting Best Buy from the list as shown in figure 2.

The report will separate your bill of material by vendor, listing all of the items that vendor is lowest on compared to your other vendors.

On the last page of the Best Buy report you will see a Vendor Summary comparison as shown in Figure 4 below.

The results provide you the detail on how competitive your local vendors prices are. Providing your vendors with a list of material they are not competitive with may allow an opportunity for your vendor to revisit your current discounts. A win for you because of more competitive estimates, but a win for your vendors in more purchase orders.
