The types of drawings that you can import into SureCount can vary greatly from very clean and uncluttered, to busy, cluttered and out of focus. Depending on the clarity of the drawing, SureCount can have an easy time or difficult time Auto-counting symbols on a particular set of drawings. SureCount has a few advanced features that can assist you in getting the results you are looking for. One of the advanced features peels away a layer on a layered .PDF drawing making it easier for SureCount to Auto-count and identify symbols on the drawing.
Note: this advanced feature will only work on a .PDF layered drawing.

In the example below, we are looking at a typical drawing with an assortment of fixture types to be counted. There are fixtures located in various rooms and common hallways. The architectural portions of the drawing can, at times, interfere with the symbol recognition abilities of SureCount’s Auto-count feature.

What if we could remove as many obstructions necessary to get the results we need? Try this, at the top of the screen, click on the word ” Drawing “. From the drop-down menu, click on the last selection ” View Symbols Layer “. Instantly the drawing is transformed to a drawing without walls, doors, hallways, etc. Only the symbols which need to be counted are displayed. This advanced feature helps SureCount recognize symbols on the drawing and present you with a more accurate count.
Note: if the “ View Symbols Layer ” is grayed out, the drawing is not a layered drawing and this advanced feature is unavailable for use.
